About Kristina
Kristina Roegner is a down to earth, hardworking American, dedicated to God, her family and our country.
She remains very close to her parents, Brian and Raija Daley. Raija immigrated to the United States as a youngster from Finland. After working various jobs to put himself through college, Brian became an auditor and also worked various jobs in corporate finance. Kristina’s parents work ethic and values helped shape Kristina into the person she is today.
Following her passion for math and science, Kristina graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (cum laude) from Tufts University and accepted a job at Westinghouse Power Generation. As a Field Engineer, Kristina would lead teams of 50 – 100 millwrights overhauling turbines and generators in power plants across the United States.
While Kristina enjoyed the technical side of the job, she realized that to grow professionally she needed to learn more about the financial side as well – the world of balance sheets and income statements – she needed to learn about business. And where better to learn than at one of the country’s most prestigious business schools, the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
While working toward her MBA in Finance and Strategy, in 1994, Kristina accepted a summer internship at McKinsey & Co., a global management consulting firm. After earning her MBA, Kristina accepted McKinsey’s offer to return as a full-time Management Consultant. Kristina served clients through McKinsey’s Cleveland, Ohio, Stockholm, Sweden and Munich, Germany offices. While at McKinsey, she met her husband Eric, and in 2000 they celebrated the birth of their first daughter.
Kristina made the decision to leave McKinsey and stay home to raise their children. During this time she started a small business, The Language Lodge LLC, which taught young children foreign languages through full immersion. This experience taught Kristina a deep appreciation for the issues and challenges that face small business owners and educators.
Kristina was now ready to turn her attention to service to her community. She was elected to Hudson City Council on November 8th, 2005, the same day that she gave birth to their 3rd daughter! She ran on a platform of fiscal responsibility, transparent government and maintaining the character of Hudson. During her first term on Hudson’s City Council, she worked to reform government finances, so they could reduce expenses by 10% from their operating budget! She was instrumental in initiating televised City Council Workshops. Pleased with her performance, in 2009, the people of Hudson re-elected Kristina for a 2nd term.
Kristina was part of the “Leadership Hudson” class of 2007 which founded the ‘Hudson Farmers Market’ that has become an integral part of community life. Each Saturday morning in the summer and early fall, Hudson’s main square comes alive with residents and visitors gathering to buy healthy and fresh produce, meats, honey, olive oils and more. Additionally in 2009, Kristina was inspired to create “PictureHudson”, a coffee table picture book of Hudson filled with photographs taken by Hudson residents. With the help of many volunteers this book was published in 2010 and all proceeds from it are donated to charities.
Kristina has a strong track record of service and commitment to education. From 2008 through 2010 she served on the Board of Directors at Seton Catholic School, and she enjoys visiting classrooms throughout the district to talk with students about how an 'idea becomes a law'.
As you reflect on her life, you can’t help but get a sense of the heart that motivates her. Kristina has a heart for servant leadership. With a sense of humility and deep responsibility, she brings her commitment of values, and dedication and hard work to the commission and duty of being our State Senator.
